Our Team
Because two heads really are better than one.
After having the opportunity to work together on a few design projects, we realized that while we could produce some great work individually, we could create some amazing work as a team. We decided to officially join forces and co-founded Vaxa Creative.
While sometimes great minds do think alike, we're glad that not all minds do. That's why we work well as a team. We have very different backgrounds, experiences, methodologies, and even style preferences and personalities. While it may be cliche to say, our differences truly complement one another, much like yin and yang — providing a great balance that not only challenges us creatively, but that we feel translates into better results for our clients.
Nathaniel Lew
Nathaniel has lived throughout the east coast, starting in Florida and working his way northward until settling (at least for now) in Providence. Design has long been his passion —perhaps obsession. After receiving his BFA with a double-major in graphic design and imaging & digital arts from University of Maryland Baltimore County, he worked for a few design and PR firms in D.C. and Baltimore.
It wasn't long before he delved back into design education, and received an MFA in digital media from the renowned Rhode Island School of Design. His favorite class, however, had nothing to do with digital design — it was a month-long workshop in Maui, where he studied traditional woodworking methods from several Hawaiian and Japanese masters.
He may have a very serious demeanor, but he's a laid back kind of guy.
Kristen Yngve
A New England girl, Kristen was born and raised in Massachusetts. She learned the power of both words and visuals at Muhlenberg College, where she graduated with honors and received her BA in English and fine arts (with a photography concentration).
While working as a web designer for colleges, she started growing her own design client base, until it grew into a full-time solo design business, called Illuminated Design. She's very excited to have a partner with whom she can collaborate.
Though her last name appears to be lacking in vowels, it's surprisingly easy to pronounce ("ing - vee").
When not designing, she loves enjoying the outdoors and photographing bugs.
